We’re Back! We have been a bit “ Missing in Action” from blogging, but we promise we’re back with all fresh topics. Especially with the holidays coming up- beauty is key.
What other way to start the holidays off then by doing some beauty care clearance, and getting rid of expired beauty and skin care products that are reserved in the back of your cabinet. Everything from mascara to cleansers should be reviewed and cleared out before you get yourself up to the nearest cosmetic counter and splurge.
Guidelines for makeup*:
Mascara3 – 6 months (* very important in order to protect yourself from any bacterial infections if the mascara becomes funky looking)
Eye Liner: 3 months for any liquid or gel liner, and up to two years for pencil liners
Lip Liner: 2-3 years
Eye Shadow: 6 months to 2 years
Foundations: 6 to 12 months
Concealer: 6 to 12 months
Powder: 6 months to 2 years
GLG RECOMMENDS *to minimize any bacteria transferring from your face to your powder with a powder brush, always make sure you wash powder brushes with an antibacterial brush cleanser: http://www.sephora.com/browse/product.jhtml?id=P208010
Now that were done with cleaning out your Makeup Bag
Lets get to the good stuff- SKINCARE
Cleanser: 1 year because active ingredients such as glycolic acid and retinols might become more powerful if stored for a long period of time, which can eventually cause an allergic reaction.
Serums: 6 to 12 months
Moisturizer: 1 year
*Moisturizers in tubes last the longest:
GLG Favorite: SKIN MEDICA ULTRA SHEER MOSTURIZER (Retail Value: $50) http://www.skinmedica.com/skin-care-products/moisturize/ultra-sheer-moisturizer
Sunscreen: 1 year
Acne Treatments: 2 years
*Always remember: no matter what skincare or cosmetic product it is, any change in smell and texture is a bad sign- toss it out immediately!
GLG loves to do skincare evaluations in order to have you using the best and most compatible product out there for you!
